Who certifies AI visibility — and is there a standard?

Right now, no accredited body does. The category is too new. PRAGMA is the neutral certifier for AI visibility — it measures whether AI engines name your business, with a method it publishes, and certifies the result so anyone can check it. The neutrality is in the method, not a badge.

THE SELF-ISSUED BADGE ✓? "Certified" — by the company itself. ✕ no method · no re-run · trust us vs >_ NEUTRAL CERTIFICATION >_ method published result reproducible registry-verifiable >_ check it yourself · every engine

Search "who certifies AI visibility" and you'll find the truth spoken plainly: there is no industry-standard certification body for how AI engines answer. The one or two companies claiming the title are certifying themselves — a proprietary badge issued by the same party selling the service. That's not a standard. It's a logo.

So what would real certification even look like? Not a seal you're asked to trust. Three things that can survive a skeptic:

PRAGMA is the neutral certifier.

PRAGMA owns the one kind of neutrality that's honest to claim: neutrality of the method. We're not an arms-length third party — we help businesses get named, and we say so. What makes the certification trustworthy isn't our reputation; it's that we publish the ruler and make the result reproducible, so you check the work instead of trusting us.

The standard, disclosed

We ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews the exact questions your buyers ask, and record — per engine — whether your business is named.

We separate the pillars (answer-engine, parametric, local presence), freeze a baseline, and publish the result to a registry-verifiable record. We never claim a score predicts revenue — we report what the engines actually say.

Certified in practice · Brand 9 Signs

Brand 9 Signs, a 40-year business (our own founder's, which is why we could open every number), was invisible to AI. We ran the disclosed standard, froze the baseline, and moved the result — Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews now name it. Same test before and after, on the record, weak pillars shown too. That's what certification against a real standard looks like.
